Luis Hernandez is an emerging Portland painter and designer. He uses a humanistic approach by blending street art esthetics with more traditional painting techniques. Through the Script is a type-based auditory curation of 20 interviews, each being about 5 minutes long. These interviews are a depiction of one topic: a life changing event. Through the Script, will walk the viewer both visually and sonically through each life impacting story, in hopes of making the viewer contemplate about their own life changing stories and how it connects them to a bigger, equal network of people.
“What I want people to get out of this exhibition is that everyone has a reason for being who they are. Many things, such as religion, race, politics, and others factors build a person into who they are, and it’s easy to say don’t judge a book by its cover, but we all do it at some sort of conscious/subconscious level. This exhibition is meant to show the viewer one big moment that shaped each 1 of the 20 people I interviewed for this project. Through these stories, I seek to humble the viewer, just as I was humbled when I was listening to them, and hopefully show that people have more in common than we think.”
