Day of the Dead
Sean Muhl was an artist, a writer, and a world traveler. When he died of a brain tumor on November 1st, 2012 he left behind a lot of himself through the artwork that he made. The Day of the Dead show will be a showcase of Sean Muhl's creative force through the painting, photography, poetry, memoir, and charcoal portraiture that he has left behind.
And while this show will be held on November 1st, 2018, 6 years to the day after his death, this was not the original plan for the show. When Sean's brother Shannen Muhl, owner of Gallery 101, invited two of Sean's best friends, Nick Stiles and Tyler Shilstone to put on a First Thursday show at his gallery, November was just the next available opening he had. It wasn't until months later when Tyler and Nick decided to check the date that the first Thursday of November fell on that they realized it had been scheduled on The Day of the Dead, the 6 year anniversary of Sean's death. Then it was obvious that this was no longer Tyler or Nick's show. This is Sean's show. For the first time all of Sean's creative works will be on display in one space.
